Man is Unable To Guide Himself

image

Within civilization man is surrounded by others like himself and he finds that he shares much in common with his fellow men. Humans are similar and share the same basic needs. Mankind endlessly pursues that which offers pleasures and flees from whatever threatens to cause pain. The “fight or flight” instinct is always at work to protect one from physical, mental and emotional harm. What one does in response to that instinct is largely dependent upon his moral standard. As Yusuf Islam (former pop-singer Cat Stevens) said: when we are hurting we look for something to comfort us. While they consider all that causes pain to be evil. But there in trouble, the religious man turns to God, the one without religion runs from the pain and turns to something else (like alcohol) which will take his attention away from whatever is bothering him. There are two people with the same needs and same affection but who seek different means by which to find comfort.

Man has been endowed with great mental capacity; however it is not sufficient error. The most brilliant pioneers of science who created a nuclear bomb powerful enough to blow up the earth several times over are unable to unlock the secrets of human existence. The French scientist Andre Lwoff, said that man is still unable to create a single living organism and he cannot even produce one living bacteria. Although medical science has failed to run for to unravel the unknown mechanism of the human brain, it continues to observe the qualities in the human body that are no less miraculous. For example the tear of the human eye contains the strongest bactericide found in any pharmaceutical drug and can destroy upto one hundred different types of bacteria even when diluted many times. Man’s intelligence brings him very close to the knowledge he needs to understand life but even so he does not always use it in right way. For example research proves that alcohol kills brain cells when consumed even in small amount. Scientific evidence also shows that brain cells do not regenerate. so why do so many people still drink alcohol? It would seem not due to lack of knowledge but more for the need to escape. What causes man to seek self-confidence destructive outlets to banish sadness, boredom and the like? Could it be that without proper religious groundings mankind becomes easily jarred by life’s forces?

The stability offered in cyclonic “soul storms “of temptation depression lack of self-worth and infinitum is quite real. If the human soul is “anchored” to the truth, it will weather whatever the seas of life may toss at it. Knowledge of the true way to live will free human beings from the false fleeting traps that promise comfort and escape.

  1. You are right. Man is arrogant and considers himself intelligent when subhanAllah we are learning new things everyday and like you said man cannot even create a single bacteria yet still believes in superiority.

  2. Great post, I feel that these are all signs that above us all lies a Supreme Being that is known to mankind as Allah, Khuda, God, Bhagwan, Lord and so on. The miracle of life and creations is the proof of the Supreme Existence.
Man also has the distinction to be the only species being superior in creation of weapons for its own destruction… :-/

  8. The Christian view is that this is a fallen world, that we have a nature infused and corrupted by sin from the moment of our conception. The wars, crime, and hatred throughout the ages are evidence of this sin nature. For Christians, these point to the need for a Savior in the Person of Jesus Christ. We believe that Christ was both God and man; that through His death and Resurrection He restored the relationship between God and man. In this, the Bible differs w/ the Koran.

      • Jesus responded to the messengers who inquired on behalf of John the Baptist whether He was the Messiah (Greek: Christ) that they should tell John He was healing the lame, restoring sight to the blind, etc. (Luke 7: 22). This was a reference to Isaiah 35: 5 and 61: 1 affirming that He was the Messiah.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus referred to Himself in the “I am…” format (“I am the way, the truth, and the life”; “I am the good shepherd”; “I am the resurrection and the life” etc.). You can find a list here:

        https://www.esv.org/resources/esv-global-study-bible/chart_43_08/

These assertions are equivalent to the “I am” statement by God to Moses at Exodus 3: 14 (“And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am…Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.”). They would have been understood by the Jews as such.

During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus made three statements only God could make. He equated persecution for the sake of righteousness with persecution for His sake (Matthew 5: 10-12). He said that He would decide who would enter heaven (Matthew 7: 21-23). He said that men should live obedient to His commands (Matthew 7: 24-27).

Apart from healing the sick, cleansing lepers, driving out demons, controlling the weather, and restoring the life of Lazarus and a young girl, Jesus regularly forgave sins. (See, for example, the paralytic at Matthew 9: 1-2; and the sinful woman who anoints Jesus at Luke 7: 48). Only God has this authority.

Jesus was clearly understood by the Pharisees as making the assertion He was God, since it was for blasphemy that they had Him crucified.

During Jesus’ trial by the Sanhedrin (Matthew 26: 57-68), He was asked directly by Caiphas, the high priest, ““I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Jesus replies, “It is as you said.” Caiphas is recorded as having exclaimed, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy!”

I am sorry to have gone on at such length. I hope this is helpful to you.

        Blessings,

        A.

      • Christians and Muslims both believe in Jesus, love him, and honor him. They are, however, divided over the question of his divinity.

Fortunately, this difference can be resolved if we refer the question to both the Bible and the Quran, because, both the Bible and the Quran teach that Jesus is not God.

It is clear enough to everyone that the Quran denies the divinity of Jesus, so we do not need to spend much time explaining that.

On the other hand, many people misunderstand the Bible; they feel that the belief in Jesus as God is so widespread that it must have come from the Bible. This article shows quite conclusively that the Bible does not teach that.

The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is not God. In the Bible God is always someone else other than Jesus.

Some will say that something Jesus said or something he did while on the earth proves that he is God. We will show that the disciples never came to the conclusion that Jesus is God. And those are people who lived and walked with Jesus and thus knew first hand what he said and did. Furthermore, we are told in the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible that the disciples were being guided by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus is God, surely they should know it. But they did not. They kept worshipping the one true God who was worshipped by Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (see Acts 3:13).

All of the writers of the Bible believed that God was not Jesus. The idea that Jesus is God did not become part of Christian belief until after the Bible was written, and took many centuries to become part of the faith of Christians.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke, authors of the first three Gospels, believed that Jesus was not God (see Mark 10:18 and Matthew 19:17). They believed that he was the son of God in the sense of a righteous person. Many others too, are similarly called sons of God (see Matthew 23:1-9).
